Overview

Due to the outbreak of the Corona Virus, all schools have been forced to stay shut. At the same time, all parents are forced to keep their young ones at home. Our main objective is to keep learning going at home and at the same time support our Teaching and Non Teaching staff through continued employment.

At The Grammar School, our goal is to redefine preschool.

Every student is a teacher. Every teacher is a student. We endeavour to create a learning experience online which is print rich and gives control to the parents to take participate based on their availability. We also strive to create learning environment that gives the child the opportunity to take learning in his own hands. Daily participation is not necessary but is appreciated. You can join the class at your convenience. The school will be providing meaningful activities to your child based on his age group and any past learning history. Our virtual instruction consists of online and offline groups.

The virtual preschool has allowed children and parents to feel less isolated and stay connected with their teachers in this difficult time of pandemic. The parents are very happy and impressed with the fact that not only the virtual platform at The Grammar School provides structure to this learning phase but also keeps the young ones engaged and happy.

Online Activities

Online activities involve online participation using Google Classroom at The Grammar School which requires the participation of children enrolled.

Offline Activities

Offline activities will include working independently on worksheets and material assigned by your Teacher. This is also conducted on Google Classroom.

The Grammar School aims at planning an age appropriate curriculum for the kids, in which a Fun Learning Activity Schedule is followed to enable the kids to achieve their milestones and help them achieve their major goals of development. The program of the school has been perfectly designed to meet the needs of the little ones.

Early Literacy Skills

Child will be able to recognize letters A to L and their phonic sounds and realte to the vocabulary which will be communicated through Teachers Learning Material and interactive learning videos.

Early Numeracy Skills

Loud Counting 1 to 20
Recognition Of numbers 1 to 10
Count and match numbers 1 to 10 through real life objects, flash cards, beads and assignment sheets.
PreNumber Concepts - Big Small, Tall Short ,Heavy Light
Shapes - Recognition of Circle, Triangle, Square , and Star Shapes , Craftv Activity ,Real Life Objects, and assignment sheets are used as tools for introducing and recaputalation.

Language Development

The Language Development in kids of this age group is 10 to 20 words,and adding about 10 words every day.
Various activities are introduced to encourage child to develop vocabulary, response and understanding.
Story Sessions associated with the child and his\her surroundings.
Pretend and play, show and tell activities and virtaual stage exposure to enhance theie language development skills.

Motor Skills

Fine Motor Skills - Tripod activities like scribbling , tearing and pasting ,stringing beads to enhance the fine motor and prewriting skills of the little ones.
Gross Motor Activities - Running, Walking with support and throwing(Without Direction).

Socio Emotional Skills

Self Play, Pretend and play to create imagination and keep the child occupied positively.Music and Movement Sessions,enhance socio emotional development as well.

3 - 4 Yrs

Early Literacy Skills

Child will be able to recognize letters M to Z and their phonic sounds and realte to the vocabulary which will be communicated through Teachers Learning Material and interactive learning videos.

Early Numeracy Skills

Loud Counting 20 to 50 .
Recognition Of numbers 20 to 50
Count ,Matching and Naming numbers- 1 to 50 through real life objects, flash cards, beads and assignment sheets.
PreNumber Concepts - Sorting, Matching , Identification and understanding Patterns.
Shapes - Recognition of Oval and Star Shapes , Craft Activity ,Real Life Objects, and Tracing assignment sheets are used as tools for recaputalation .
Colours -Introduction of Secondary Colours - Brown,Pink,Orange,Purple. Flash Cards, Recaputalation Of Previous Colours Mixing Colours and Assignment sheets are used to reinforce the recognition of colours.

Language Development

The Language Development in kids of this age group is 250 to 500 words and speaking short phrases and eventually sentences with 5 to 6 words.
Various activities are introduced to encourage child to develop vocabulary, response and understanding.
Story Sessions associated with puppets and props.Voice modulation and multiple characters, for vocabulary development and better understanding.
Pretend and play for assiciative and symbolic play and enhance sequential thinking, Show and tell activities and virtual stage exposure to enhance their language development skills.

Term 1

Thematic learning on my family, fruits & vegetables, healthy food, my body, my school and farm
Introduction to letters, phonic sounds, small and capital letters, and identification and tracing of letters
Pre-math concepts such as big & small, less & more, heavy & light, one & many
Counting from 1-10 through hands-on and fun activities

Term 2

Explore new topics such as animals, birds, garden, plants, trees, flowers, living and non-living things
Reinforce the learning of phonic sounds, recognise and write small letters, match small with capital letters
Identification of objects through names and beginning sounds
Counting up to 25, tracing and writing numerals up to 25 and understand sequencing

Term 3

Learn about transport, music, community helpers, sky & space, seasons, public places and the environment
Introduction to word families such as 'at', 'an', 'et', 'it', 'ug', 'ot', etc
CVC words -- learn to identify, read and write
Count, trace and write numerals up to 50, sequencing, number games from 1-10n

Lesson Plan

The Grammar School offers the virtual preschool environment with activity plans that are an extension of the curriculum followed by The Grammar School. The curriculum is popularly called the Developmentally Appropriate Curriculum (D.A.P). The Lesson plans mainly focus on improving the main domains namely: Cognitive development, Motor development, Socio-Emotional, Physical, Inter-Personal, moral development related to the overall development of the body.

The Lesson plans have been drafted keeping in mind the Screen time, availability of guardian (parents or grandparents) at home and also flexible timing. The Grammar School is conscious of the fact that this virtual preschool platform should be able to provide the children with a wide array of learning opportunities at just a click of the button. These opportunities will help the child improve his eye hand coordination, increase personal and social engagement with peer group by using color patterns instead of white and gray paper. Overall, the visual experience will empower him to grasp concepts much easier.
